Right now I’m completing my dissertation: an investigation of the Internet’s impact on patienthood. I am conducting virtual ethnography, interviews, and archival analysis at a large online illness community. The project seeks to illuminate and analyze the effects of patients’ newfound ability to collaborate and commiserate in online social space with individuals who suffer from similar conditions.
I'm a doctoral candidate in the sociology department at the University of Michigan. I research social aspects of the body, health, knowledge, and deviance. I also really love teaching.
