Drew Foster

I'm a doctoral candidate in the sociology department at the University of Michigan. I research social aspects of the body, health, and knowledge. I also really love teaching.

Right now I’m completing my dissertation: an investigation of the internet’s impact on health care. I am conducting virtual ethnography, interviews, and archival analysis at a large online illness community. The project seeks to illuminate various effects of patients’ ability to collaborate and commiserate in online social space with individuals who suffer from the same conditions that they do.
